Property Tax Sales
Tax Sales

How long before a property becomes eligible for auction? Five years from the original default date. For example, property taxes that were billed for fiscal year 2009/10 and not paid by June 30, 2010, would be subject to the tax collector's power to sell on July 1, 2015, and the sale process would begin.  Frequently asked questions about the tax sale process are answered here:  FAQ's

The tax sale process is governed by the California Revenue and Taxation Code under the guidance of the California state controller's office.

We usually hold our tax sales in the spring online at Bid4Assets.com. Complete information will be available at least 30 days before the auctions begins. Get an email notification when a tax sale is occurring with Notify Me.

We will be conducting a sale May 12-15, 2017.  Go to Sierra County Tax Sale for details about the sale process and properties offered.

Resolution 2017-020 authorizes the Tax Collector to conduct the sale.

Does the county sell Tax Lien Certificates?  No, Sierra County does not sell tax lien certificates.
