Solid Waste Operations
The Public Works and Transportation Department provides Solid Waste Operations support with the management of the Loyalton Transfer Station, Ramshorn Transfer Station, Alleghany Transfer Station, Sierra City Transfer Station, and the Sattley Transfer Station. This support includes the development and management of Sierra County recycling programs including but not limited to E-waste, aluminum, white goods, metals, used oil products, cardboard, CRV plastics, and mattresses (available at Ramshorn and Loyalton).
The department is also responsible for the preparation and updating of all required reporting to the State of California.
The mission of Public Works is to protect the public health, safety, and welfare through superior engineering, maintenance, operations, and administrative services that incorporate customer service and integrity with competence and productivity for a sustained commitment to excellence.
The following Sierra County Solid Waste sites are open as noted except for holidays. Please call for holiday confirmation.
