Family Planning

Planning and spacing of pregnancies is an important part of reproductive health and overall well-being. Our services are free for anyone who financially qualifies. Sierra County Public Health offers confidential, no-cost family planning services to individuals who qualify based on income.

We Provide:

  • Well-person exams (including breast and cervical cancer screenings)
  • All FDA-approved birth control methods
  • Pregnancy testing and options counseling
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Reproductive health education and counseling
  • Services for both women and men of reproductive age

About Family PACT

Family PACT (Planning, Access, Care, and Treatment) is California's family planning program for low-income residents. It provides comprehensive reproductive health services at no cost to eligible individuals.

The program goals are to:

  • Promote optimal reproductive health
  • Reduce unintended pregnancies
  • Remove Financial barriers to accessing birth control and preventive services

 The program fills a critical gap in health care for under-insured and uninsured Californians.

Who is Eligible for Family PACT?

You may qualify for Family PACT if you:

  • Are a California Resident
  • Have a family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Do not have other health insurance that covers family planning
  • Are medically eligible for family planning services

Medi-Cal clients with an unmet share of cost may also be eligible. Enrollment is completed on-site at the time of your visit. All services are confidential and available regardless of immigration status.

What Services Are Covered:

Family PACT covers a wide range of reproductive health services, including:

  • Birth control (all FDA-approved methods)
  • Emergency contraception (Plan B)
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling
  • Preconception health counseling
  • STI testing and treatment
  • HIV screening
  • Cancer screenings (breast, cervical)
  • Male and female sterilization
  • Limited infertility services

Individual client reproductive health education and counseling is an ongoing component of all services.
